How to Choose

If you are new to specialty coffee, start with a medium roast blend — they are forgiving across brew methods and offer the most balanced flavor. Onyx Coffee Lab and La Colombe are excellent entry points with consistently good quality at reasonable prices.

For experienced drinkers, single-origin light roasts from George Howell and Intelligentsia offer more complex flavor profiles — expect floral, fruity, and tea-like notes that are very different from traditional dark roasts.
